Authentic Jamaican Brunch in the Loop

 

CHICAGO – Mr. Brown’s Lounge (MBL), known for its standout jerk chicken and authentic Jamaican cuisine, will be celebrating the launch of weekend brunch at the Loop location (81 E. Wacker Place) on Sunday, February 12th, 2017 with live Reggae music from DJ [Insert Name], a percussionist, drink specials and giveaways!

 

The restaurant serves authentic Jamaican dishes using family recipes passed on through several generations. The all new brunch menu will incorporate traditional Jamaican dishes (Ackee & Saltfish) alongside MBL’s signature jerk  – Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice.

  • Ackee & Saltfish $22: Calaloo (Leaf Vegetable), Plantains, Festival, Bammy

“Mr. Brown’s Lounge is thrilled to expand and now offer brunch island style”, says Executive Chef & Co-Owner Chris Douglas. “It’s been a dream of mine since opening in 2009 and I’m excited to share some of my favorite recipes with Chicago.”

 

Entrees are made daily from scratch and prepared in the same method as on the island. The chicken is marinated overnight and then slow cooked on a charcoal grill for maximum flavor. Mr. Brown’s Lounge will continue to serve lunch & dinner, the signature grilled jerk chicken wings and arguably the best mac & cheese in the city – a secret family recipe that blends Jamaican flavors with an American touch.

 

The authentic Jamaican cuisine, the real rum punch, and reggae beats make Wacker Place and Michigan Avenue feel that much closer to Jamaica.

 

Brunch is offered at the restaurant every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.  On Sundays, the space evolves into an afternoon Reggae and World Beats dance party with guest DJ’s from 2:00pm – 6:00pm.

ABOUT MR. BROWN’S LOUNGE

With locations in West Town and the Loop, Mr. Brown’s Lounge serves hot and spicy Jamaican dishes using family recipes passed on through several generations. The restaurant’s vibe is authentically Jamaican. Co-Owner and Executive Chef Chris Douglas opened the first Mr. Brown’s Lounge in West Town in 2009 in partnership with his brother Terry Meghie and his sister-in-law Carrie Meghie. With the success of this first venue, a second location opened up in the loop in June 2015. The kitchen is open Sunday – Thursday from 11:00am – 12:00am and Friday and Saturday from 11:00am – 2:00am. The restaurant’s full menu is available until 10:00pm and a limited late night menu is available from 10:00pm to close.
